TOTAL CHAOS vs. Stock Upper Control Arms – What’s The Difference?

“Do I really need upper control arms?” is a question we come across often. People will say, “But I am only lifting my vehicle a couple inches, how will I benefit from upgrading the upper control arms?” TOTAL CHAOS UCA’s are designed to function best in the 2″-3″ of lift zone and were designed make your vehicle easier to align. These hand-crafted arms are fully rebuildable and replacement parts are always in stock.

1 inch stainless steel uniball vs. stock toyota ball joint

UNIBALL VS. BALL JOINT

Uniballs allow for maximum droop wheel travel and do not bind like factory ball joints. TC includes 1″ I.D. uniballs that feature a heat treated stainless steel ball & heat treated stainless steel race for maximum corrosion resistance and component longevity. These uniballs also features a military grade PTFE woven fabric liner that helps prevent noise.

polyurethane bushings vs. stock rubber bushings

Urethane UCA Bushings vs. Factory Rubber UCA Bushings

Urethane bushings pivot freely on the inner sleeves without any resistance. Zerk fittings are included for easy lubrication to help prevent squeaks. Rubber bushings twist and deflect when they are placed under load. Urethane has less deflection and will help retain a vehicles alignment better.

positive caster vs. negative caster suspension alignment

Added Caster vs. Stock UCA

Several TC UCA’s have added caster in their design to correct the factory geometry lost when the vehicle has been lifted more than 1.5”. Loss of caster causes a vehicle to have a tendency to wander on the road or dart with minimal movement at the steering wheel.

heim joint uca vs. urethane bushing uca

Heim Joint Pivots vs. Urethane Pivots

Heim pivot UCA’s will provide more adjustment of camber and caster. Vehicles that combine lift kits or see race applications can benefit from this equipment that can be set up custom for its specific application. TC includes 4130 chromoly heim joints with a PTFE liner for max corrosion resistance and strength.

How Does TOTAL CHAOS stand up against the competition?

– TC 1” Uniballs allow the same travel that a 1.25” uniball offers

– 1” Uniballs offer more clearance than larger uniball options for 3.0” coilover shocks at full droop and provide better clearance for a wider range of tire and wheel combinations.

– 4130 vs DOM – 4130 is a much stronger mil-spec tubing that is more resilient to damage from harsh impacts, vehicle accidents, and conditions seen in race applications. 4130 is superior in strength.

–  3 stage powder coat: All TC equipment is sand blasted then coated, then sealed with a urethane clear coat that provides a long lasting finish.
