DAKAR Rally 2014 – TOTAL CHAOS Race Updates

The DAKAR Rally 2014  race was held in South America and the 14 day adventure was comprised of 13 competition stages and 1 rest day from January 5th thru January 18th. It was a marathon off road race that attempted to cover over 9,000km of epic terrain through Argentina, Bolivia & Chile. 8 TOTAL CHAOS  suspension equipped vehicles were slated to cover over 5,800 off road miles of grueling sand dunes, rocks, mud, and treacherous mountain passes.

TOTAL CHAOS has used the DAKAR as a proving ground for our bolt on Toyota IFS suspension products and related accessories since 2005. This year, 4 out of the 8 TC listed competitors that entered the rally were equipped with the newly released TC 86002-R chromoly race series 2” long travel kit.

As fate would have it, not every TOTAL CHAOS competitor finished the DAKAR, nor did the high-profile American athletes that were in the hunt and expected to win competition stages! The DAKAR is brutal on man, machine and crew. The vehicle and its support crew are punished daily and expected to continue on to the next stage. Even the highest quality and most well engineered equipment can suffer in the DAKAR and not see the final stages checkered flag.

4 of the 8 TOTAL CHAOS competitors would not complete the rally due to some other vehicle-related problem. However TOTAL CHAOS would like to recognize the teams and salute the 4 racers and their support crews that did finish in class T1.1 in the 2014 DAKAR Rally:
