2011 Glen Helen Lucas Oil Regional Short Course

Dan Vance finishes 2nd at the Lucas Oil Glen Helen Regional

TOTAL CHAOS Fabrication team driver Dan Vance battled a field of 28 class 1450 drivers to take a 2nd place finish at the 2011 Lucas Oil Regional short course series finale at the Glen Helen Raceway off road track in San Bernardino, CA. “The Lucas Oil regional series has a lot of growth potential. The facility is awesome and they make you feel welcomed to compete there,” stated Vance after the race. “My GoodYear tires hooked up really well with the wet track and I qualified 2nd.”In the 16 lap main event the 1450 class lined up with the top 8 qualifying trucks being inverted. Vance started right next Ryan Desautels, the 1st place qualifier with 600hp. Vance’s reliable stock Toyota 4.0 Tacoma power plant was pegged from the second the green flag dropped while he battled back to the lead by the end of the first lap with Desautels. Vance was able to hold his qualifying position and had a great battle for half the race going on with Dan Chamlee, until he suffered some overheating issues and had to pull off the track with a few laps to go. Meanwhile caution flags during the race kept the competition close. Despite several restarts Vance was able to maintain his 2nd place position out on the track until the black and white flag. There was a quite a bit of truck carnage, there were some heated drivers after the race and there were also some spectacular crashes during the days show. Dustin Lappnow cart wheeled in the whoops during the qualifying session, and in the main event the red flag was thrown to remove another rolled truck from the course. A short time later the caution flag was thrown again when 2 trucks sat stacked on top of one another wedged together on the long table top.“I would like to thank Currie for the great gearing and equipment along with TOTAL CHAOS for the awesome suspension. My Fox shocks worked great and it was a fun day out here,” Vance commented after the race. “Without the support from such great companies, it would be much harder to compete out here with all these drivers for podium spots.”
