Sam and Becky, Total Chaos team #152 were all smiles after they completed another strong day in the Dumont Dunes. They earned enough points to place them in second for day 4, sitting 3rd overall. As the competition gets progressively tougher their consistency and grit will fuel them to the finish.
TC Tacoma # 152 takes a Stage 3 WIN at the @rebellerally! Waking up on the marathon leg Monday, the teams headed back into the Nevada desert just after sunrise for a 483km long day starting in Alamo, and ending in Dumont Dunes.
Fighting a stomach bug navigator @sjbarber had to hit up the medics before heading out on course. @barlow_adventures and @teralinp # 129 are true rock stars, and also offered some relief to keep the TC team in the hunt. Thanks ladies you two are #badass!
Not the way you want to start your day but Sam pushed thru the gut bug and kept on truck’n, while Becky made sure to keep Sam dialed in during the starting endure and into BC 2. Pushing thru the long day was only 1 obstacle – a curve ball was tossed to the teams when they arrived at CP 15, the rally threw a distance and heading challenge that simulated Dakar navigation rally techniques. “Way to #crush it ladies – you scored all the points in this challenge!!” TC Crew.
“They were issues a Distance and Heading Challenge from Course Director @jimmy_lewis_ at checkpoint 15, which affected their hunt for CP 16 and CP 17.” Mentioned the Rebelle Rally. “We wanted them to think more instinctively because they rely so heavily on their instruments, to feel it more than having to look at something. They must devise different ways to figure out that heading and distance instead of being precise with tools. Teams struggled and it was meant to be that way,” shared Jimmy Lewis.
As the competitors headed south out of Base Camp 1 Sunday, they ended Day 2 just outside of Alamo, Nv. This is the first marathon leg of the competition – starting Day 3 the teams will have no idea what they scored the day before and strategies are going to be key. Two of the TOTAL CHAOS equipped teams currently sit in the top 5 for points after day 2 – the Gen 1 Tacoma # 156 piloted by Rasa Fuller / LeeWhay Pasek climbed up in positions and sits in 3rd place. The TC Gen 4 Tacoma #152 piloted by Becky Brophy / Samantha Barber trails them by 3 points and sits in 4th place for todays ranking. Let the 5 day grind begin. This is where the days blend together and you must remain hyper focused despite the fatigue. The girls are headed south where the temperatures are going to rise. 22 points separate 1st thru 4th place as they adventure south into some new terrain.
Day one of competition is in the books for the 2024 Rebelle Rally – Nevada hosted the start for 65 rally teams as they navigated a 270 km stage comprised of 2 loops and 1 enduro. The two top ranking Toyota’s trailing a pack of Ford’s and Jeep’s are both #tcequipped.
Team # 152 Brophy / Barber in the TOTAL CHAOS custom built 2024 Tacoma outfitted with a TC Mid-Travel Performance Package round out the top 10 for day 1 points. While Team # 156 Fuller / Leewhay in their 2004 Tacoma with TOTAL CHAOS Upper Control Arms are tied for 11th trailing by 1 point.
