The Lexus GX 460<\/a><\/strong> makes for an excellent off-road vehicle with body-on-frame construction, a true low range, independent front suspension, and a solid rear axle with coil springs. Many people pass these vehicles up in favor of a Toyota 4Runner, thinking that the Lexus is just a luxury vehicle. As a result, you can often find a GX 460 for less money than a comparable 4Runner, and you get a V8 engine. The GX 460 is built on the Toyota Prado J150 chassis, and as a result many of the same lift kits, suspension upgrades and accessories for the Prado and 4Runner can be fitted to the GX 460.<\/p>\n

What is KDSS?<\/h3>\n

One unique feature to the Lexus is the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS). While Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos offer a sway bar that can be manually disconnected, the GX 460 has the ability to make the sway bar stiffer or softer instantaneously depending on trail conditions. It optimally adjusts front and rear stabilizers based on a set of interconnected hydraulic cylinders. KDSS can disengage the stabilizer bars and allow for increased wheel travel and articulation. This system will not engage during normal driving conditions, when hydraulic pressure is equal but in off-road conditions, KDSS activates when it senses that a wheel has dropped. This does make the suspension on your Lexus GX 460 slightly more complicated but we have years of experience upgrading the suspension and installing a lifts on the GX 460.<\/p>\n

Increased ride height on your lifted Lexus GX 460 also provides the ability to fit larger tires. Install up to a 285\/70R17 or 34×10.5R17. Larger tires provide even more ground clearance and make bumps effectively smaller when you encounter them.<\/p>\n
