2012 Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series 1450 Bee Hive Classic Round 4

4th Round of Lucas Oil Regional Off Road Series
1450 Bee Hive Classic

27 drivers signed up to battle door to door in the blistering valley heat at the Lake Elsinore Motorsports park during the 2012 1450 Bee Hive Classic. Shortly after loading his truck to head out to the event, TOTAL CHAOS driver Dan Vance discovered some severely damaged suspension components on his truck that had to be replaced on the passenger side hours before he lined up for practice on Friday. “Working 2 jobs makes prep difficult sometimes. I hucked it at Del Mar Tuff Trucks and flat landed on the passenger side. It was a pretty good hit and at the last minute I noticed some damage. Luckily KarTek had what we needed and we swapped out the parts in a few hours and I headed to track.”

As the diameter of the red target continues to grow larger on the back of truck #1429 the crew continues to push the limits of their equipment, and drive the class to do the same. Co pilot Jason Farrel navigated for Vance during the practice session where a few new 1450 class racers put on some heat in the 4 lap sprint. After all 27 trucks were timed in the first heat to determine starting order for the qualifying heat, Dan “WFO” Vance posted the fastest lap time with truck 1448 Agius Racing posting the 2nd fastest time just 1 second behind Vance.

After the qualifier Vance once again claimed the top spot with the fastest lap time followed by Baja 1000 Class 7 champion Dan Chamlee.

Temperatures soared to triple digits as the day passed and the anticipation grew on who was going to finally dethrone “WFO” Vance. Lots of internet bench racing prior to the race fueled the 1450 hype on who would be standing on the top box at the end of the day. Navigator Mike Allen from TC strapped into the truck for the main event. The first 6 qualifying positions were lined up for an inverted start and 1429 was lined up in the 3rd row on the outside. “In the main event, its all business”, stated Vance.

Before the green flag dropped the bumping began! When the green flag drops you can be guaranteed a few 2 wheel saves and a few broken parts in this race. As the 21 trucks in the main battled door to door Vance began to make his move back to the front. “By the end of the 2nd lap we were back into first place,” stated Vance. Dan “WFO” Vance was prepared to leave it all on the table if necessary to settle the forum debate on who has the fastest truck. The racers let long time 1450 racer Steve Herrera start in the last row in his Lucas Oil pro lite to dice with the teams and try and reel Vance in. When the mid race competition yellow flag waved, Herrera was able to line up in the third position and set his sights on Vance. The 2 battled door to door swapping positions for a few of the final laps with Vance pushing his purpose built desert truck to run the pace of a purpose built stadium truck. “We are long time competitors and there was not way I was going to take both of us out, but it was sure fun to go out there and dice with the class.” stated Herrera after the main.

The final round to dethrone “WFO” Vance will be held November 10th in a fitting sin city stadium. Las Vegas Motor Speedway will host the Bee Hive Invitational and we know that the side bets will be flying in a town that promises nothing but empty wallets and broken dreams!
